Associate Editor Guidelines

We recommend the authors to read the manuscript formatting guidelines to prepare manuscript for submissions under MedPress Journals

  1. Editorial Board is the most essential and valuable part of open access publications.
  2. An editorial board is formed in accordance to each person’s expertise and experience in their respective field.
  3. Recommend high quality papers for publication.
  4. Help with journal indexation process.
  5. Promote the journal in various ways and at relevant conference.
  6. We have formed an esteemed list of editorial board from different parts of the world.
  7. Editor plays an important role in the functioning of the journal.
  8. The development of the journal mainly depends upon the role of the editor.
  9. Editor needs to give final decision after the articles have been reviewed.
  10. Support the quality control of journal and verify every issue before the release.

Readability

The submissions must be clearly written in English and simple understandable language to readers.

Article Types

MedPress Journals accepts Original Research, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Case Report, Case Series, Rapid Communications, Clinical Videos, Clinical Images, Perspectives, Abstract Videos, Letters and Editorial.

Formatting Guidelines for Manuscript Submission

Cover Letter: Corresponding author details Name, Surnames, Department, University, State and Country must be mentioned below the Title. Complete address, affiliation, contact number and E-mail address of corresponding author is mandatory. Any of the mentioned structure missing will be resent to the author for further modifications

Manuscripts Word Limit

Research Article: The Research Article should mention the clear description and importance of new finding. The word limit is 5000 or fewer words excluding references and figure and table legends.

Review Article: The Review Article which mentions the latest advancements and current happenings. The word limit is 5000 or fewer words excluding references and figure and table legends.

Mini Review: The Mini Review Article which should provide an accurate and deep understanding in that particular subject. The word limit is 1500-2500 or fewer words excluding references and figure and table legends.

Perspectives/Commentaries: These Articles explains the discussions of suitable data analyses or to emerge from current scientific meetings. The word limit is 1500-2500 or fewer words excluding references and legends.

Clinical Images: Clinical images are the pictures that show the clinical findings of a particular case of the patient. The clinical pictures should include questions and answers that should educate or remind readers about an important clinical situation or event. The image should not just describe the picture; however, should be informative enough from a clinical teaching view.

Short Communication: These articles provide brief and clear description of the new findings. The word limit is 1500-2500 or fewer words excluding references and legends.

Editorial: Editorials provide views on any theme relevant to the Journal's concerns. The word limit is 1200 excluding References.

Letters: Letters are of two types Letter to the Editor and Opinion Letters. These are written by the Editors that provide perspectives on problems and current research interests. The word limit is 1200 Words excluding References. There is no figures and tables in this type of Manuscript.

Title: Title must be precise, short and self-explanatory. Abbreviations need to be avoided. Except the conjunctions, prepositions and articles rest of the title must be in title case. The Title Font Size should be in Times New Roman 15, bold and centered.

Author Names: Author names should be mentioned as Last name followed by their Initials without space or any punctuation. If more than one author is present they should be separated by “,” and the last two authors should be separated with and. Their affiliations are numbered after the initials in superscript. Corresponding author is represented with a superscript star. Times New Roman, 11 Bold, Left alignment.

Eg: Peter SG1, Sudan HS2 and Gracia LI2*

Affiliations: Should contain all the authors department, university/hospital/institution, country. Times New Roman, 10 Normal, Left-Right Alignment.

2Department of Cardiology and Surgery, University of Toronto, Canada. email:gracia@university.com

Corresponding author: Corresponding author details Name, Surnames, Department, University, State and Country must be mentioned below the Title. Complete address, affiliation, contact number and E-mail address of corresponding author is mandatory. Times New Roman, 10 Normal, and Justified.

Eg: Christy LI, Department of Cardiology and Surgery, University of Toronto, 172 St George St, Toronto, ON M5R 0A3, Canada, Tel: 123-456-7890; Fax: 123-456-7890; Email: christy@university.com

Headings: Times New Roman, 11 Bold, and Left-Right Alignment.

Subheadings or Sub-sub headings: Times New Roman, 10 Bold, and Left-Right Alignment

Spacing: Indentation after/before: 0; Spacing after/before: 0; Line Spacing: 1.5.

Abstract: Each manuscript must contain an abstract, the word limit for abstract is 300 words for all Research/Review and ground articles. An abstract must be, informative, self-explanatory of the work and should not contain any citations.

Keywords: Keywords are mandatory for review and research articles. Keywords are the most commonly used words which are picked from the article. Keywords enhance the chances of getting more citations and high readership to your manuscript.

Eg: Lung cancer; Biomarkers; Cancer therapy

Abbreviations: Abbreviations must be separated by semicolon and all the abbreviations used in the manuscript must be mentioned.

Introduction: This should have a strong background for the study which is easily understandable to the readers and explains the purpose and need of that study. This should contain citations from the supporting papers for mentioned statements.

Materials and Methods: This should give detailed procedures if the techniques are new and if they are applied from well established procedures, they should be cited. As per the number of methods and methodologies used this section can have multiple sub sections. This section should not contain the techniques exactly copied with same data mentioned.

Results and Discussion: This should provide the results and interpretations of the above experiments. There could be multiple subheadings or described in a single paragraph. None of the content/data should be copied.

Conclusions: This section should be clearly explaining the author thoughts, highlights and limitations of the study.

Acknowledgements: Author should provide the grant details if any or express his gratitude towards his interest.

Format for Figures: The authors Research work is effectively communicated in figures, tables, graphs, illustrations, diagrams play significant role. Figures must be in high-resolution TIFF, PNG, JPEG or EPS formats. There is no limit for the number of figures and tables for Manuscript submission. Figures must be labeled A, B, C, etc. Figure legends are mandatory and the word limit for each legend is 100 words. The figure numerical denotations must be mentioned in the text of Manuscript is mandatory. Figure legends must be mentioned below each figure.

Format for Tables: Submitted tables must be in Word (.doc), Excel (.xls), and PPT formats only. Each table must contain a brief title which is not more than one sentence, table legend should be placed above the table with the table number. The legend and annotations should be placed below the table. Annotations may be used to explain abbreviations. All Tables submitted must be cell bases, editable and short. Avoid using colour shades in the Table. The special characters such as Asters must be denoted below with the text explaining the denotation. Do not use any hyperlinked text in the tables. The word limit for table legends is 100 words. Table legends must be mentioned above the Table. Tables must be provided at the end of the manuscript below figures.

Equations and Formulas: For mathematical symbols, Greek letters and other special characters, use normal text or Symbol font. MathType is used only for formulae that cannot be produced using normal text or Symbol font.

Units: SI/IU Units must be represented.

Format for Reference

Reference Style: MedPress Journals follows Vancouver referencing style. It refers to sources cited in the text must be in numerical order according to their order of appearance. If the same piece of work is cited more than once then same citation number should be used. Each reference number should be enclosed by square brackets e.g. [1].

References format: Author(s) last name, Title, Journal Short Name, Year, Volume: Page numbers

MedPress Journals follows a double peer-review system, where the reviewers' and authors names are not disclosed for unbiased peer review system. All the published articles are permanently archived under a Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0.

All the published manuscripts are subjected to Article processing Charges where the author or author institution can pay a fee to the publisher at publication time, the publisher there after making the material available 'free' at the point of access (the 'gold' open access model). The author may contact the editorial office to know more details on the Processing charges.

Patient Consent Form

If the image/figure of the patient is identifiable then the patient consent form is required. In case, the eyes are masked then the form is not mandatory.
