MedPress Journal of Immunology and Infectious Diseases

Immunology is the branch of biomedical science that deals with the response of an organism to antigenic challenge and its recognition of what is self and what is not. It deals with the defence mechanisms including all physical, chemical and biological properties of the organism that help it to combat its susceptibility to foreign organisms, material, etc. If the immune system is not functioning as it should, it can result in disease, such as autoimmunity, allergy and cancer. It is also now becoming clear that immune responses contribute to the development of many common disorders not traditionally viewed as immunologic, including metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s.

Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by harmful agents (pathogens) that get into your body. The most common causes are viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Infectious diseases usually spread from person to person, through contaminated food or water and through bug bites. Some infectious diseases are minor and some are very serious. The flu, measles, HIV, strep throat, COVID-19 and salmonella are all examples of infectious diseases. Cancer, diabetes, congestive heart failure and Alzheimer’s disease are all examples of non-infectious diseases.

Journal of Immunology and Infectious Diseases is a multi-disciplinary peer-reviewed open access journal that encourages accurate research and makes a significant contribution to advancing knowledge for immunological application in the treatment of various infectious diseases. It aims to publish most complete and reliable source of information on the discoveries and current developments in the form of research, review, case reports, editorials and short communication articles etc., The published work reaches the general public and the scientific community immediately after publication, thus providing higher citation rates for the author.
